MediLoop is operated by Lasaju Consulting Sdn Bhd, a boutique sustainability consulting firm based in Malaysia. Lasaju Consulting has 10+ years of experience, with a simple goal of making Malaysia more sustainable for future generations. This includes a focus on tangible, impctful work in pressing environmental issues like circularity and climate change.
By 2030, the Malaysian Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) will implement a mandatory Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) law as discussed within the National Circular Economy Blueprint.

Under the EPR law, companies who place pharmaceutical and medical packaging on the market are responsible for financing or managing collection, recycling and disposal of the products once they become waste.
At MediLoop, we help set up and improve recycling systems that are cost effective to meet future mandatory EPR requirements
MediLoop is currently running a recycling pilot designed to maximise segregation of clean, recyclable waste at source and ensure collection by responsible aggregators for further sorting and transport to end recyclers

As part of this process, MediLoop procures additional bins, engages healthcare institutions - hospitals, clinics, laboratories, etc., to use them and sets up a regular collection schedule with aggregators
